A travel letter is a document written by a doctor stating a patient’s condition and treatment. Having a letter such as this is important when traveling in the event of an emergency and local clinicians are not familiar with your diagnosis.

Have you ever given a travel letter to clinicians when traveling? Did the letter help expedite your care? What advice would you share with someone who does not have a current travel letter?

Make sure if carrying treatment of factor 8 that your letter includes all the required components, ie water syringes etc as customs can refuse entry if not included on the letter. Also worth getting the letter translated into the language of the country you are visiting.

David, Thank you so much for the reminder! It is easy to forget about the ancillary items that we need. Happy holidays!
