Man With Hemophilia Is Scaling Mount Everest

Chris Bombardier may have been born with severe hemophilia B but he hasn’t let it stop him from setting his sights high — literally.

Bombardier is currently at Camp 3 of Mount Everest. He’s getting ready to climb the summit of the world’s highest mountain to raise awareness of hemophilia and to prove that it shouldn’t stop you from going after your goals.

According to a report on Fansided, the seasoned mountaineer from Denver, Colorado, has already conquered five of the peaks in the Seven Summits challenge where climbers take on the highest mountain in each continent.

While hemophiliacs in the Western world can live relatively normal lives with medications and clotting factor, many in developing countries die before their 10th birthday. Bombardier hopes that he can raise awareness of the plights of those with the disease who don’t have access to life-saving clotting factor.

You can track Bombardier’s progress on his Everest challenge through his Facebook page Adventures of a Hemophiliac.
