I disagree with the notion that other people will fight for you.
Not because it’s untrue. Because it is true. I’ve had healthcare professionals go to bat for me a few times, but I think the second you rely on someone else going to bat for you, that you don’t know how to pick up and swing yourself.
I said a million times, I will say it again. “No one can fight for you like you can.”
It’s building a community for yourself, but you are the voice. You must be the catalyst for change. It’s unfair and it sucks. In my experience, that’s kind of the only way anything’s gotten done is when I’ve been vocal about it.
